I enjoyed so much creating things and making new friendship. However, as any other projects, the end is a fundamental part of it. I am not saying that I will never again create anything but it is honest to face the truth and say stop, or maybe even better a big THANK YOU for having supported this small, very small brand.<br />
<br />
I started sewing when I was 22 as a precious gift that my holy grandma taught me, now I am 28 with new dreams and places to explore. I am working as Librarian and studying for an MA in Library and Information Science.<br />
Meanwhile I moved from Italy to UK and I had the time to wed my beloved boyfriend.<br />

I really wish you all the best :)<br />

<br />

<br />

Ottima compagnia, cielo sereno, cream tea e tanta natura. Che si deve volere di più?

I have spent a wonderful weekend in Cornwall and I have to admit that it is a really nice place to visit.
Looe, Polperro, Boscastle and Tintagel are the towns we reached with a couple of friends during the weekend.
Obviously I have tasted the original cornish cream tea...so yummy!

She is one of the most important designer in Uk and she loves being considered the queen of the pattern kingdom. If you like both the 1960's and 1970's-style you can not resist to the visionary brand of Orla Kieley. Orla grew up in Ireland and after a degree in design at Dublin's Nationa College of Art and Design she entered in the Esprit Maison. Then she founded her own brand and now the store in London's Covent Garden is the epicentre of her empire. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have read this book immediately: it is so inspiring and it has delighted my eyes, really! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Traditional florals, sprigged prints and powerful colours are the essential ingredients of patterns. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Do you like Orla Kieley?</div>

I have spent this sunny Sunday in Shere over the Tillingbourne. What a wonderful village!<br />
We walked through the beautiful countryside and passed close to two of the most interesting and ancient churches in Surrey. Let's say a walk with a fine village at the start and a good pub at the end, obviously we ate a Sunday Roast.<br />
How did you spend your last Sunday?

Fedulabhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13867544305534130662noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1285004621484810598.post-15700477202751272972013-04-13T03:05:00.000-07:002013-04-13T03:05:36.280-07:00New LabelsWouldn’t you love to know more about who made that handmade item you bought at a market or online, and where it was made?<br />

I've learned that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.
I miss so much all my friends, however I will meet them all together at the end of the next summer.
A couple of days ago I received a special package in my letterbox and inside I found something beautiful: a pair of handmade wooden earrings shaped as tiny acorns. Oh dear!
It was a little surprise from my friend Elisa aka <a href="http://www.wa-ga-shi.blogspot.com/">Wagashistories</a> that now is teaching English in China :) </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Besides, I have a genuine friend, Marla, who loves adding on my Facebook page a lot of "fun-useless-cat theme-sitcom-gamer" images.</div>

<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Today I want to write a post about my grandparents because they had had a lot of things in common with my life. Both emigrated to Switzerland and worked there for a long period.
I found a small wooden box filled with a lot of pictures about them so I decided to digitize some. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When I feel a little sad and nostalgic I will remember what they did for me and how much they loved me.
My grandma taught me all I know about sewing and stitching, even if when I was a child she forced me to learn those arts with a strictly discipline.Well, it worked! </div>

Here I am again! Well, it has been a while since I last posted. During the last four weeks I have started two jobs in the same time: one as Library Advisor at the University for the Creative Arts and the other as a freelance machinist. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Please believe me when I say that I have worked seven days a week. Am I insane? No, it is because I am a Gemini and Gemini is always doing two things at once...aaaaaah! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It has been a pleasure working for <a href="http://www.nicolephillips.com/">Nicole Philips England</a> because I really love their printed materials. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here you are some snaps when I was working in my lab. Fabrics, bias, waddings, scraps and a tons of threads.......everywhere.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Nicole, the founder and painter, is now in London to launch her brand during the Country Living Fair. Let's say that a piece of Fedulab is also there. A big good luck Nicole!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
My Friday Fav today is <b>Mariano Fortuny and his magnificent and sumptuous silk dresses</b>, cloaks and medieval style robes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I really love this artist because his fame and art are closely linked with Venice despite his name reveals its Spanish origin: he was born in Granada on 11 May 1871 and he spent his childhood between Rome, a little town near Naples and Paris. Fortuny was just eighteen when his family moved to Venice, in a palace in the Canareggio and soon he started to love the new place, its architecture, the oriental atmosphere of the city and the work of Venetian Renaissance painters such as Bellini, Titian, Veronese and Giorgione: all these elements influenced his dress design and his friends said that he spoke Venetian better than Italian.</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://www.archiviodellacomunicazione.it/Sicap/ThumbJpeg.ashx?Str64=1SSg9yXS6ejrctbnfW1vPBDwL2BnXkjq55TDA%2fyjkqcAH%2fvIGLeskq%2fq3OQps8hzio11lojrTCsaR1Eko1%2b%2b3uIsSFD21sEi3ZpPudJHLF3bc7gVhz3VM99HbzkIHTuSDzFG94BqYhclmqAXDrkjLYGrA4n%2f%2fXXYIjg6M2cxqLsdfL%2bJzZnuiQ%3d%3d" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="371" src="http://www.archiviodellacomunicazione.it/Sicap/ThumbJpeg.ashx?Str64=1SSg9yXS6ejrctbnfW1vPBDwL2BnXkjq55TDA%2fyjkqcAH%2fvIGLeskq%2fq3OQps8hzio11lojrTCsaR1Eko1%2b%2b3uIsSFD21sEi3ZpPudJHLF3bc7gVhz3VM99HbzkIHTuSDzFG94BqYhclmqAXDrkjLYGrA4n%2f%2fXXYIjg6M2cxqLsdfL%2bJzZnuiQ%3d%3d" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
At the age of forty he threw totally himself into fashion design, after devoting his life to photography, painting and sculpture. His name is connected with the thin pleated silk dress but we must not forget that the Fortuny style was the result of a collaboration between him and the French modell Henriette Negrin. They spent forty-seven happy years together in Venice and in 1909 they opened the first Fortuny boutique in Palazzo Orfei, later renamed Palazzo Fortuny. They worked in this way: he invented the pleated look and the dyeing process while Henriette picked out the patterns and block-printed the patterns of the dresses.</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is important to remark that Fortuny was not a couturier because he did not present an annual collection but he was interested in reaching a big and romantic purpose: a timeless ideal form of beauty.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The "Delphos" dress, the most famous icon of his style, was cut out flat in one piece, than the imported Japanese folded silk laid on heated porcelain tubes fixing permanently the tight pleats with the help of Chinese crystallized egg white. The result was a pressed dress that recalled the idealized "flower-woman" and the "Delphi Charioteer", from ancient Greece. Every single dress had the shoulders and seams accentuated with Murano glass beads, made specially for Fortuny. The success of Fortuny's creations lasted from 1910 until the Forties.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is today already possible to breathe and feel its power and creativity visiting <a href="http://fortuny.visitmuve.it/">Palazzo Fortuny in Venice</a>. I went there a couple of years ago and I can assure that the "primo piano nobile" (first reception hall) had a powerful impact on me. I found his fabrics, collections, paintings and dresses simply amazing.</div>

<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ho frequentato per un mese un college per imparare la lingua, ho lavorato come assistente ai costumi teatrali, ho lavorato come segretaria, poi nella galleria d'arte contemporanea della citta di Portsmouth e infine or ora che scrivo, come bibliotecaria all'University for the creative arts.</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fatto tutto questo? Ora inviate l'<i>application</i> all'azienda e...aspettate. Che cosa?</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
AHAHAHAHHAHAHAH</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>

At the end I have released new items on my <a href="http://www.fedulab.bigcartel.com/">Big Cartel store</a> and I am really proud of them.
We can start with the cat theme (yes, I am a cat lover): </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>BAIZE</b>, a gorgeous large messenger bag made in black cotton shaped as a black cat ready to pounce onto something. A very cat bag. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>MISSY VON VANITY</b>, a zipper pouch that you can use to carry money, cards, cosmetics, a camera, ipod, pencils and other small essentials a girl needs. On the red polka dot cotton I have sewn (appliqué) a black cat with button-eyes and hand-embroidered smile. Her brown polka dot tail is a long strip and the four paws are really cute, a cherry on the cake! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As you can see both are featured by a zipper closure to keep your things from dropping away. It is a revolution for me and I promise I will use zipper closures as much as I can. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next post: creations with original Kokka cotton/linen (Made in Japan)</div>

<i>[Italian version]</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div>
<div>

There were times when I wondered if the effort was worth this, but the answer was and is always one, YES YES YES.<br />
Now it's time to move (again) and the 2013 will start with a new house, a new sewing machine (loooooove!), a new city...and a new job as well!
You know, the end of December is the perfect time of the year to reflect on the the memories and laughter of 2012.<br />
Here you are what I had:

Have you seen the magnificent vintage party dress just below?<br />
Well I made it last week when I attended at the "Perfect Party Dress Workshop (Vintage Style)" held in Chichester <a href="http://www.clothkits.co.uk/workshops-c-103.html">at Clothkits. </a><br />
I am very proud of my new polka dots party dress, now I have to wait the following christmas parties :)
Professional finish and a perfect fit: Yeah!

Hey!

Today is the Scotland's national day: St. Andrews day (national patron saint).
I have wonderful memories of the time spent in Scotland with my friends this summer. Anyone who has ever been lucky enough to visit Scotland knows why it is a gem with its magical scenery, in particular mountains and lochs. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This weekend more than 40 historic attractions throughout Scotland will open their doors to the public for free! YAY! Happy St. Andrew's day!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I should be today<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>

I have never been in Mexico but I wish I had my very own private jet because the Festival Internacional del Globo is held this week in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. About 200 pilots, representing over a dozen countries, congregated in León’s Metropolitano Park to speckle the sky with their hot air balloons for this annual ballooning event, which has come a long way since its humble beginning in 2002 with 27 balloons.<br />

Besides sewing I'm keen on cooking, yeah, let's say that I love testing new recipes on my lovely "guinea pig".
For this reason I've created some nice aprons with colourful fabrics. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As an Italian who lives abroad, I really love enjoying the meals with friends and I think that food is an important part of my culture. I eat for pleasure not only for nourishment ;) </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Chop chop, winter is coming and all you need is a warm and cute Kitty scarf like this.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's made with a magenta striped wool material where I put some nice details as the button-eyes, ears and paws. Her dimensions are: 140 cm height x 26 cm width.<br />
There is only one Kitty Scarf left on<a href="http://fedulab.bigcartel.com/"> my store</a> and as I have said before...chop chop!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/fedulab/8020094839/" title="Kitty scarf pinK by Fedulab, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8443/8020094839_bbeb0f0161.jpg" width="500" height="485" alt="Kitty scarf pinK"></a>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
How many things can I create from a beautiful half yard with a lot of poppies?
The answer is: a lot! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I fall in love with Poppy Parade Floral fabric by Sandi Henderson for Michael Miller, sent to me from <a href="http://stores.ebay.it/nelaro-fabrics">Nelaro Fabrics</a>. It features large red, beige and lime flowers on a cream coloured background. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With this material I've create some Weirdo cat phone cases and a gorgeous zipper handbag: Poppy Parade. What can I say? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Everything has been much appreciated <a href="http://fedulab.bigcartel.com/">on my Big Cartel store</a> and I think these creations can make great presents to find under any tree this holiday.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
