My last four weeks as a freelance machinist

Here I am again! Well, it has been a while since I last posted. During the last four weeks I have started two jobs in the same time: one as Library Advisor at the University for the Creative Arts and the other as a freelance machinist. 

Please believe me when I say that I have worked seven days a week. Am I insane? No, it is because I am a Gemini and Gemini is always doing two things at once...aaaaaah! 

It has been a pleasure working for Nicole Philips England because I really love their printed materials. 

Here you are some snaps when I was working in my lab. Fabrics, bias, waddings,  scraps and a tons of threads.......everywhere.

Nicole, the founder and painter, is now in London to launch her brand during the Country Living Fair. Let's say that a piece of Fedulab is also there. A big good luck Nicole!

Warm memories from the Highlands

I talked about my wonderful and wild holiday in the Highlands in this post, but today I would like to share with you my scottish drawings that remind me a lot of warm memories.

Besides of my camera and my rucksack I've bring with me my lovely Moleskine where I've collected the best landscapes I saw during my holiday.

I've drawn few but specials scottish places like the seaport of Malleig, the Dunvengan Castle and the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye and the beautiful Eilean Donan Castle.

What can I add more? It has been a charming holiday.

 

Ho parlato della mia meravigliosa e selvaggia nelle Highlands in questo post, ma oggi vorrei condividere con voi i disegni che ho fatto e che mi ricordano i tanti bei posti che ho visitato. 

Oltre alla mia macchina fotografica e al mio zaino ho portato con me il mio inseparabile moleskine in cui ho immortalato i migliori paesaggi che ho ammirato durante la mia vacanza.

Ho disegnato pochi ma intensi luoghi scozzesi&come il porto di Malleig, il castello di Dunvengan e le cime del Quiraing sull'isola di Skye ed infine il bellissimo Eilean Donan Castle. 

Cosa posso aggiungere di più? E' stata una vacanza davvero incredibile.

Fall in love with the Highlands

Hi! I'm just come back from my amazing holiday in the Scottish highlands. 

I spent the last 10 days in the scenic beauty of this part of the Scotland. I travelled by car and then we went for a walk around in search of a good place to put up our tents. 

Now I'm a little nostalgic for all the beautiful places I visited. For example Ardnamunchan, Sanna Bay, Portuairk and Glencoe... Now I miss the bright sun shiny days, the ocean, the seals from a colony near Dunvengan, the castles...the Highlands! 

You can see below few pictures from my holiday but soon as possible I'll upload new pictures.

  

 

Sono appena tornata dalla mia fantastica vacanza nelle Highlands scozzesi. 

Che dire? A pensare a tutti gli stupendi paesaggi che ho visto e a tutte le camminate che hanno scandito queste ultime giornate non posso che essere un poco nostalgica. 

All'inizio ero abbastanza scettica su questa vacanza "selvaggia" ma mi sono completamente ricreduta. La meraviglia di svegliarsi in tenda col sole che brilla sull'oceano o mangiare a mezzanotte nella baia di Dunvengan con ancora la luce e la presenza delle foche...bhe davvero non ha prezzo. 

Aimè al momento posso postare solo le foto dei primi giorni di questa vacanza (Ardnamunchan, Sanna Bay, Portuairk e Glencoe) ma appena riceverò le restanti vi mostrerò altri incredibili paesaggi scozzesi.

Busy thursday

Not until I had finished serving some bags, cooking a little and taking funny pictures did I notice that the week was too short!

Ho giusto finito le nuove borse, cucinato qualche dolce e fatto alcune foto e mi rendo conto che la settimana è ormai giunta al termine.

Uff, mi mangiucchio qualche scones e via!

La scorsa settimana sono andata dal mio stoffaio di fiducia e sono rimasta particolarmente colpita nel trovare tante stoffe col tema del cupcake. Avrei voluto acquistarle tutte ma alla fine ne ho presa una e a breve vedrete quale! 

Intanto guardate che meravigliose stoffe ho selezionato per voi!

Love you Owl-ways

Spesso per realizzare un'idea carina basta davvero poco e nel mio caso è bastato avere sottomano un pezzo di cotone arancione e un filo blu (meglio se di qualità, io ho usato infatti un filato 100% cotone egiziano Aurifil).

Volevo ricamare qualcosa di speciale e da incorniciare così sono andata sul sicuro: un gufo.

Ho sfogliato il mio moleskine "breviario dell'ispirazione" e ho ripreso un disegno con un gufo dalle ali aperte. Poi ho modificato gli occhi e mi sono messa all'opera.

Per dare ritmo al ricamo ho usato diversi spessori al punto e ho aggiunto solo un tocco di filo beige per il dettaglio delle ali.

Sono davvero soddisfatta del risultato e soprattutto mi piace tantissimo l'effetto lucente che assume il filato di cotone blu quando è colpito dalla luce.

Che sdolcinata!

Sometime you need just a few things to make a nice needlework. For me it was enough to have a piece of orance cotton and blue cotton thread (I used a 100% egyptian cotton by Aurifil ).

I need to stitch something special on it so I kept a safe subject: an owl.

I consulted my moleskine "compendium of inspiration" and I took a picture with an owl with open wings. Then I changed its eyes and I started to work.

I gave rhythm to embroidery by using a different thickness to the points and I added just a touch of beige thread on the wings' detail.

I'm really satisfied about the result and most of all I like the bright effect that assume the blue cotton thread when it's struck by light.

What a mawkish girl!

Oh Yeah! It's a boy

Una delle ultime commissioni che ho portato a termine riguardava la creazione di un fiocco di nascita per l'arrivo di un bel maschietto. Il fatto che i futuri genitori si siano affidati al mio gusto presupponeva il comune astio nei confronti dei soliti fiocchi in tulle e raso che vendono (anche) nei supermercati.

Bene! La mia idea è stata quella di creare in stoffa una casetta con applicata una culla e il cartiglio con scritto Oh yeah it's a boy. Il progetto è stato subito accettato anche perché la casetta è molto simile alla vera casa che ospiterà il fiocco.

Ho sagomato, ritagliato e cucito i vari pezzi; poi ho dipinto il cartiglio azzurro e assemblato il tutto. Infine ho inserito l'imbottitura e fissato il tetto a mano con il punto a festone e ago per lana.

A couple of my friends will be soon parents and they asked me to make a special birth announcement for their baby.
They live near the mountains and so I built a fabric house very similar to their. I added a blue baby carriage and a scroll upon which I wrote by hand Oh yeah it's a boy. I love experimenting with new themes and I hope they appreciate this creation.

Medical case

Pronti a partire per le vacanze?

Tra le tante cose indispensabili da portare in viaggio ci deve essere il sacchetto dei medicinali.

Con questa idea è nato il MEDICAL CASE: l'astuccio per avere sempre con se medicinali, cerotti e pillole.

L'interno è foderato con uno strato di morbido trapuntino così da contenere in sicurezza anche boccette di vetro. L'esterno di cotone a righine azzurre e bianche è abbellito dall'applicazione kawaii del simbolo del pronto soccorso, e la chiusura a zip garantisce la massima sicurezza di chiusura.

Misure: 15cm x 7 cm x 7 cm

Ready for the holidays?

Among the many things needed for travel, you must need a medical case.With this idea was born MEDICAL CASE: the case for always keep medicines, pills and patches.The interior is lined with a layer of soft quilt to hold safely even glass bottles. The exterior of striped blue and white cotton is embellished from the kawaii emergency symbol, and zipper closure provides maximum security.Measurements: 15cm x 7 cm x 7 cm

Let's Go Blue

Martedì io e le mie amiche abbiamo festeggiato il carnevale a Venezia.
Nella notte giravano per le calli tre losche figure.
Io con i capelli blu, Andrea impersonava una spagnola e Elena un detective. ahah






Last night my friends and I celebrated the carnival in Venice. I had blue hair, Andrea was dressed as a Spanish (!!! ahah) and Elena was like a detective.

Per Aurora e Irene

Il momento del Natale è sicuramente quello che i bambini preferiscono.
Non dimenticherò mai quando i miei genitori mi regalarono 'Gira la moda" (mi diventano ancora gli occhi lucidi a pensarci).

Un mesetto fa ho ricevuto una letterina da due mie giovanissime ammiratrici: Aurora e Irene.
Le due bimbe mi hanno fatto delle richieste molto precise, con anche un bel disegno indicativo del prodotto che cercavano. Alla faccia dell'approssimazione!

Aurora mi ha commissionato un copri Nintendo DS con l'applicazione di un musetto di gatto rosso. Ho usato una stoffa trapuntata blu con pois color crema e ho praticato una chiusura con due bottoncini viola. Il muso del gatto è realizzato in ecopelle rosso, e come al solito ho messo due bottoni come occhietti.

Irene ha voluto un astuccio per la scuola con un muso di gatto blu. Con la stessa stoffa trapuntata blu ho ricoperto l'esterno dell'astuccio e dopo aver applicato il musetto in vinile blu ho foderato l'interno e infine applicato la zip.

Ultima mossa: impacchettare con cura le due commissioni. Dite che gli piaceranno?
