Fabrics Fever Alert! 

I've just seen the glorious Tula Pink's collection for Free Spirit and the more I look at it, the more I love it. 

Tula has used a charming palettes and the pattern with trees, bees, squirrel and lady bugs is great! 

In "The Birds and the Bees" collection you can see all the natural world with various types of living plants, animals and the inanimate meteorite.

My favorite fabrics are the Meteor Shower in Cinnamon and the Tree of Life in Cinnamon. Oh holy cinnamon! ;) 

I can't wait to order some of these fabrics! 

Please help me to choose one more!

 

Se di nome fai Tula Pink non puoi fare altro che creare l'ennesima collezione di tessuti stampati incredibilmente bella! 

La designer americana ha usato una stupenda gamma di colori per la collezione The birds and the bees per Free Spirit, a cui ha abbinato interessanti disegni con api, alberi, scoiattoli e coccinelle. Il tema del mondo naturale spazia dai vitali motivi dell'albero e degli animali passando alla pura geometria della pioggia di meteoriti.

Le mie due versioni preferite sono Meteor Shower in color cannella e Tree of Life nello stesso colore. 

Non vedo l'ora di ordinarli! Mi aiutate a scegliere un terzo tessuto da abbinare?

A soft spot for Marimekko fabrics

I have a soft spot for Marimekko fabrics because they remind me the tea towels of my childhood. When I was a child I used to drink tea in a lovely old mug with a scandinavian drawing on it. 

Now I have the great possibility to make new handbags with these gorgeous finnish cottons. 

Eevi (with a zipper closure) it's made with Rasymatto fabric from Marimekko collection, Maija is an handbag made using 100% cotton Finnish Marimekko fabric in their signature Unikko Red and Pink design. While Florinia (with a zipper closure) is made with a combination of fabrics from Marimekko, Horrockses and Robert Kaufman.

Ho un'infatuazione speciale per le stoffe Marimekko perchè mi ricordano tanto gli stofinacci della mia infanzia, in special modo da bambina ero solita bere il te in una vecchia tazza con un disegno scandinavo sopra. 

Oggi ho la possibilità di creare tante nuove cose con i cotoni Marimekko e soprattutto borse. 

Eevi (con la chiusura a zip) è stata realizzata con il cotone verde Rasymatto Marimekko, Maija invece con il cotone Unikko in versione rossa. Mentre Florinia (con chiusura a zip) è stata fatta mischiando tessuti Marimekko, Horrockses e di Robert Kaufman. 

A breve arriveranno tante nuove borse seguitemi qui o nel negozio online.

Madame Camille and Axeline

Hi! What things most reminds you of summer? Hot days, ice cream, the buzzing of cicadas or the smell of salt water...

As for myself, no doubt they're roses and strawberries.

When I think of roses, I think of their beauty and their luxurious scent besides when I think about strawberries, I think of their sweet, succulent and plump taste.

For this reason I created two "summerish" handbags: Madame Camille and Axeline with gorgeous high-quality cotton fabric (available on my shop).

Se vi chiedessi di pensare all'estate che cosa vi verrebbe in mente? Le giornate calde, gelati, il cicalio delle cicale o il sapore dell'acqua salata di mare?

Per me le due cose che mi ricordano più l'estate sono le rose e le fragole.

Se penso alle rose mi immagino i loro colori vivaci e il loro profumo intenso, mentre le fragole le ricordo per il loro sapore intenso, succoso e dolce.

Per questo motivo ho dato vita a due borse estive: Madame Camille e Axeline entrambe realizzate con cotone di alta qualità e già disponibili nel mio negozio online.

Fall in love with the Highlands

Hi! I'm just come back from my amazing holiday in the Scottish highlands. 

I spent the last 10 days in the scenic beauty of this part of the Scotland. I travelled by car and then we went for a walk around in search of a good place to put up our tents. 

Now I'm a little nostalgic for all the beautiful places I visited. For example Ardnamunchan, Sanna Bay, Portuairk and Glencoe... Now I miss the bright sun shiny days, the ocean, the seals from a colony near Dunvengan, the castles...the Highlands! 

You can see below few pictures from my holiday but soon as possible I'll upload new pictures.

  

 

Sono appena tornata dalla mia fantastica vacanza nelle Highlands scozzesi. 

Che dire? A pensare a tutti gli stupendi paesaggi che ho visto e a tutte le camminate che hanno scandito queste ultime giornate non posso che essere un poco nostalgica. 

All'inizio ero abbastanza scettica su questa vacanza "selvaggia" ma mi sono completamente ricreduta. La meraviglia di svegliarsi in tenda col sole che brilla sull'oceano o mangiare a mezzanotte nella baia di Dunvengan con ancora la luce e la presenza delle foche...bhe davvero non ha prezzo. 

Aimè al momento posso postare solo le foto dei primi giorni di questa vacanza (Ardnamunchan, Sanna Bay, Portuairk e Glencoe) ma appena riceverò le restanti vi mostrerò altri incredibili paesaggi scozzesi.

This week is starting out well with these new awesome cotton print just arrived from Nelaro online fabric store. Now you have to imagine myself with shining eyes because everytime I'm handling new materials I go hog wild. 

Inside the package I found three cottons: 

Whiskers & Tails Lime Dogs designed by Robert Kaufman 

What can I say? It's adorable because it depicts an English park where several dogs wagging their tails. I recognized on it a dachshund, a Scottish terrier and a Labrador. I will create a passport cover with and some dog bandanas. 

Animal Party Too-Bright Summer Flowers by Robert Kaufman 

A cotton very cheerful, filled with colorful flowers. It will be perfect to create new handbags. 

Hearts & Flowers designed for the collection of Michael Miller 

If you followed this blog you'll recognize the fabric I used for my new pillowcase.

La settimana si apre con questi meravigliosi cotoni stampati appena arrivati dal negozio online di tessuti Nelaro.

Immaginatemi con gli occhi che brillano perché ogni volta che ho sotto le mani nuovi tessuti vado in visibilio. Nel pacchettino erano contenuti tre cotoni:

Che dire? Adorabile perchè riproduce un simpatico parco inglese dove vari cagnolini scondinzolano in giro, per la precisione ho riconosciuto un bassotto, un Scottish Terrier e un labrador. Con questo cotone creerò un porta passaporto e una bandana per cani.

Un cotone estremamente solare, estivo e ripieno di fiori colorati, sarà perfetto per creare nuove borse.

Pineapples, Flamingos, Ice cream cones and ...wait what?

Ecco a voi le nuove spille estive! I simpatici soggetti che ho riprodotto in feltro sono l'ananas, il fenicottero ed il cono gelato. 

Con l'arrivo della bella stagione ho osato e giocato con il giallo, il blu ed il magenta, colori che sicuramente risplenderanno sul vostro look estivo.

Dopo una settimana di vacanza on the road tra la Toscana e l'Umbria mi rimetto al lavoro. Dovrò dare precedenza alla stesura della tesi, ma il tempo per creare cosette nuove di certo non mancherà.

Here I am! After a vacation on the road between Tuscany and Umbria I get back to work. I'll have to give priority to writing the thesis, but the time to create new little things certainly will not miss.

Before & after: summer dress

La settimana scorsa ho girato un po' per i negozi alla ricerca di un vestitino per l'estate, ma non ho trovato nulla che mi piacesse (come sono complicata).

Passando tra le bancarelle del mercato ho visto spuntare questo delizioso abito in cotone XXL. Pago il mio vestito una stupidata e scappo a casa tutta soddisfatta.

Modificarlo è stato molto semplice:

ho tolto da entrambi i lati circa 10 cm di stoffa e infine ho accorciato l'altezza.

Lo indosso sempre portato con una cintura a vita alta.

Vi piace? DIY!

Last week I was looking for a dress for this summer, but I haven't found anything in the shops. I'm a little bit complicated.

I was Passing between the vintage market when I saw this pretty cotton dress XXL sized. I paid this cheap dress and I run home all satisfied.

Modify it was very simple:

I removed from both sides about 10 cm of cloth, and then I shortened the height.

I wear it always brought a high waist with a belt.

Do you like it? DIY!

Paguro Beach!

Forse era proprio ora che pubblicassi le borse mare!

Stamattina sono partite per la soleggiata Catania le sorelle Paguro Beach. Se vi capita di passare per il negozio Juna di Paola Giudice potreste vederle in esposizione.

Ho scelto il tema del paguro perchè trovo che sia un animaletto simpatico e che ricorda molto l'estate.

Le borse in tessuto rigato sono molto grandi: perfette per contenere teli mare e vestiti. L'interno è foderato e ha una gigantesca tasca con chiusura a zip per contenere il vostro portafoglio, chiavi e cellulare. Ho disegnato il corpo del paguro con i colori per la stoffa e il guscio è stato realizzato in tessuto.

I miei amici iniziano a partire per le vacanze, non vedo l'ora di farlo anche io ;)

At last I have published some photos about the summer bags collection.

These bags are very large and perfect for the beach and your holidays.

I designed some nice hermit crabs on blue and white striped fabric.

So cute!

These bags were shipped to the JUNA shop in Catania.

Inaugurazione Museo del Merletto di Burano

Una magnifica giornata di sole ha benedetto la riapertura del Museo del Merletto sull'isola veneziana di Burano. Dopo trent'anni dalla chiusura della sede, tornano a splendere i capolavori dell'artigianato femminile dell'isola: i merletti.

Nelle sale d'esposizioni, dipinte con i colori che richiamano le case di Burano, saranno visibili merletti sistemati in apposite teche di vetro a cassetti estraibili, per poterli ammirare da vicino e apprezzare ogni singolo dettaglio.

Durante l'inaugurazione, i presenti hanno avuto il privilegio e la fortuna di contemplare la bravura della maestra merlettaia Emma Vidal, che in barba ai suoi 95 anni ancora si presta all'arte del merletto. Seduta e coi piedi appoggiati sul tipico piano rialzato ci ha fatto mostrato quanta precisione, cura e determinazione ci vogliono per realizzare i merletti.

Un'arte che rischia l'estinzione se non verranno istituiti nuovi corsi per tramandare il sapere e la manualità necessarie, e se non si troveranno nuove leve disposte a imparare.

Se il museo serve a non far cadere nell'oblio i lavori, è necessaria nuova linfa creativa per non far spegnere l'arte del merletto.
Nell'ultima sala è temporaneamente esposto un abito della Regina Margherita di Savoia (1851-1926).

After 30 years, the Museum of Lace was inaugurated, on Burano Island in Venice.

At the opening came a lot of people who were able to see the work of one of the last old teachers. The museum displays many laces and objects that testify to the work of women on the island.

In the last room you can admire a dress of Italian Queen Margherita(1851-1926).
