My Horrockses fabrics from V&A

Ho appena comprato due tessuti dal Victoria & Albert museum con disegni tratti da un tessuto del 1950 progettato da Fashions Horrockses. Nel dettaglio i due cotoni si chiamano 'Pink Daisy' e 'Daisy Stripe' (Navy) e li adoro! 

Horrockses Fashions Limited era uno dei più rispettabili produttori di prêt-à-porter inglese del 1940 e 1950. L'azienda (nata nel 1946) è conosciuta per i suoi abiti con grande gonna che sono stati acclamati dalle donne di tutto il mondo e sono stati anche indossati dalla regina Elisabetta II.

Non vedo l'ora di usare le stoffe per qualche borsa estiva!

I've just bought two fabrics from V&A museum with design adapted from a 1950s fabric designed for Horrockses Fashions. They are called 'Pink Daisy' and 'Daisy Stripe' (Navy), i love them! Horrockses Fashions Limited was the manufacturer of one of the most well-respected ready-to-wear labels of the 1940s and 1950s. The company are best known for their full-skirted dresses which were sought after by women everywhere and were even worn by Queen Elizabeth II.

S is for...spring, skirt and stripes

Ieri mi sono decisa a fare qualche nuova gonna per me e le mie passeggiate veneziane. Con un tessuto a righe bianche e blu ho ricavato questa gonna molto ampia da portare sopra la vita.

Il bordo è evidenziato da un nastro di raso turchese e la gonna è fermata da un elastico; sulla tasca ho infine applicato una fettuccia di nastro decorato con rondini, stelline e teschi.

Avevo bisogno di qualcosa di nuovo!

Yesterday I made a new skirt for me, 'cause i need a new look to walk around in Venice. I used a blue and white striped fabric. This skirt is very wide and i wear it high-waisted.

The edge is highlighted by a turquoise satin ribbon and the skirt is stopped by a rubber band on waist; on the pocket I applied a strip of decorated ribbon with swallows, stars and skulls.

I needed something new!
