Cat cat caaaaat! Baize and Missy Von Vanity

At the end I have released new items on my Big Cartel store and I am really proud of them. We can start with the cat theme (yes, I am a cat lover): 

BAIZE, a gorgeous large messenger bag made in black cotton shaped as a black cat ready to pounce onto something. A very cat bag. 

MISSY VON VANITY, a zipper pouch that you can use to carry money, cards, cosmetics, a camera, ipod, pencils and other small essentials a girl needs. On the red polka dot cotton I have sewn (appliqué) a black cat with button-eyes and hand-embroidered smile. Her brown polka dot tail is a long strip and the four paws are really cute, a cherry on the cake! 

As you can see both are featured by a zipper closure to keep your things from dropping away. It is a revolution for me and I promise I will use zipper closures as much as I can.

[Italian version]

Finalmente ho pubblicato nel mio negozio online Fedulab le nuove creazioni che ho terminato durante queste due settimane di silenzio, sono proprio soddisfatta del risultato. Iniziamo con una borsa tracolla e un astuccio basate sul tema del gatto (si si adoro i gatti!): 

BAIZE è una spaziosa tracolla in cotone nero sagomata come il musetto di un vigile gatto pronto a saltare da qualche parte. Si può dire che è proprio una borsa per una cat lady! L'interno è foderato e ha una tasca per cellulare, chiavi ect. 

MISSY VON VANITY è un astuccio che può essere usato per trucchi, monete, tessere, macchine digitali, penne e tutto l'essenziale che una ragazza può avere bisogno. Puuurfect! Su un cotone rosso a pois ho applicato il corpo di un gatto nero a cui ho aggiunto gli occhi-bottoni e il sorriso con un ricamo a mano. Inoltre la coda marrone a pois può essere usato come laccio e le zampette sono davvero deliziose. Come potete vedere per entrambi ho usato una chiusura con zip in modo tale che più niente possa fuoriuscire dalla vostra borsa, si può dire che è una rivoluzione per me e prometto di usare zip a sproposito!

New Marimekko fabrics

When I was in a bookshop in Milan, never mind how long ago that was, I opened a book about the finnish desing and I saw for the first time the incredible fabrics from Marimekko. 

Honestly, I had no idea that one day I would have the possibility to using them for my creations. I have always been very passionate about scandinavian design and when I received from the Koti store the original Marimekko cottons I was over the moon. 

For the next fall collection I've chosen three new patterns: 

Kuukuna is a beautiful Marimekko print by Jenni Tuominen ispired by the blue forest where you can find the magical presence of autumn mushrooms (puffballs). 

Valpuri is a cute cotton created by Maija Louekari and filled with funny animals like fishes, cats, monkeys and sleeping lions. 

Kaneliruusu (Cinnamon roses) is a warm fabric designed by Erja Hirvi in 2010 with a vibrant floral motif marked with wild roses blooming against a red background. 

 I feel sure that one day I'll a visit personally Koti in Perugia (Italy) and I'll grab more fabrics from their gorgeous Marimekko fabrics wall, but in the meantime I go on their lovely website and Facebook page to visit 

them ^_^

 

Un giorno che mi trovavo nella libreria Hoepli di Milano, non ricordo più quanto tempo fa, scovai un libro sul desing finlandese e per la prima volta vidi gli incredibili tessuti di Marimekko. 

Onestamente, non avrei mai pensato che idea un giorno avrei avuto la possibilità di utilizzarli per le mie creazioni. Sono sempre stata molto appassionata del design scandinavo e quando ho ricevuto dal negozio Koti i cotoni originali Marimekko ero semplicemente al settimo cielo. 

Per la prossima collezione autunnale ho scelto tre nuovi modelli: 

Kuukuna è una bella stampa Marimekko di Jenni Tuominen ispirata ad una foresta blu dove è possibile trovare colorati funghi autunnali (soffioni). 

Valpuri è un cotone creato da Maija Louekari pieno di animali fiabeschi come pesci, gatti, scimmie e leoni dormienti. 

Kaneliruusu (Cinnamon rose) è un tessuto progettato da Erja Hirvi nel 2010 con un vibrante motivo floreale marcato con rose selvatiche su uno sfondo rosso vermiglio. 

Sono sicura che un giorno farò una visita personalmente al negozio Koti di Perugia e svaligerò il loro splendido espositore di tessuti Marimekko, ma nel frattempo mi limito a visitare giornalmente le novità sul loro sito web e sulla loro pagina Facebook ^_^

Andy Kehoe

Oh my! I completely fall in love with Andy Kehoe's style. 

As you already know I have a soft spot for anything is concerned with the wonderful and dark creatures of the forest. There is something in his art that reminds me the imaginary world of Hayao Miyazaki and Maurice Sendak. Anyway nobody can fill their shoes but I appreciate the Andy's style and the feelings that can arouse. 

I look up to him because Andy has a dab hand at painting! Among all his pictures I really like the "Together at the Threshold" one. The reason is easy: because he painted and dedicated the artworks to his future wife. Awwww! 

Well I hope to dream tonight a lot of weirdo cats, horned spirits and fairy forests.

Ci risiamo, sono mi sono invaghita di un nuovo pittore: Andy Kehoe. 

Come ormai saprete adoro tutto ciò che richiama il mondo misterioso e oscuro della foresta (creature annesse) e quindi è stato logico l'essere stata attratta dal suo stile. 

C'è qualcosa nel suo stile che mi ricorda l'immaginario di Hayao Miyazaki e di Maurice Sendak. Ovviamente nessuno può competere con loro ma in ogni caso apprezzo il suo stile e i ricordi che richiama alla mente.

In definitiva lo ammiro! 

Tra tutti i suoi meravigliosi dipinti quello che più amo è "Together at the Threshold" (ovvero "Insieme alla soglia di...") per il semplice motivo di essere stato dipinto per accompagnare l'artista durante la proposta di matrimonio alla sua storica fidanzata (poi le cose non andranno esattamente in questo senso però il progetto iniziale era quello). 

Bene, stasera spero di sognare tanti gatti misteriosi, foreste fatate e spiriti della natura.

Hey Moomin

I hope that everybody knows the most famous characters of the finnish writer Tove Jansson: the Moomin.
The cute Moomin is a friendly troll but he looks like a white hippopotamus. I simply love this character and the magic place where his family lives, to be more precise I'm talking about the Moominvalley.
The last time I went in London I popped up at the Moomin official shop set at Covent Garden and I found a lot of amazing objects like book, mugs, pottery and handbags.
P.s. My favorite Moomin is Little My (Lilla My) because when she wants something done she does it straight way  ;)

Spero che tutti conoscano i famosissimi personaggi inventati dalla scrittrice finlandese Tove Jansson negli anni Settanta e ora tornati di moda: i Moomin.

I Moomin sono dei teneri troll che però assomigliano a degli ippopotami bianchi e io adoro loro e il delizioso luogo incantato in cui vivono, ovvero la Moomin Valley.

L'ultima volta che sono stata a Londra ho ispezionato da cima a fondo il loro negozio di Covent Garden e mi sono innamorata delle loro tazze, libri, borse e ceramiche varie.

Il mio personaggio preferito della saga è sicuramente la smorfiosetta Little My con le sue battute acidine e la sua caparbietà.

London Fabrics

2012 will be a year of celebration with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Jätski: inside a Victorian Glasshouse

Take a quiet afternoon, add a couple of friends and a small English Victorian greenhouse.
Stop and take a moment to admire with a cup of tea in your hand all the beautiful things that grow with no hurry in a greenhouse. You just might find new inspiration.
Thus was born the lovely handbag ​​Jätski made with Scandinavian Marimekko "Jätski" fabric that recalls the colours of summer and the seaside.
As always I have entrusted to the online store Koti Design to procure Marimekko cotton prints.
With my friends Ainara and Gonul, we found a Victorian greenhouse and to our surprise we found inside buds ready to grow!

Prendi un tranquillo pomeriggio, un paio di amiche e una piccola serra vittoriana. Fermati un attimo ad ammirare la natura che cresce senza fretta con una tazza di te in mano e l'ispirazione arriverà da sola!
Così è nata la deliziosa borsa Jätski realizzata con il tessuto scandinavo Marimekko "Jätski" che richiama i colori dell'estate e del mare.
Come sempre mi sono affidata al negozio online Koti Design per procurarmi i pregiati tessuti Marimekko.
Con le mie amiche Ainara e Gonul ci siamo addentrate in una serra abbandonata e con nostra sorpresa abbiamo trovato all'interno dei germogli pronti a crescere.

April's new arrivals from Seamstar

Aprile si è aperto nel migliore dei modi: finalmente ho ricevuto tre bellissime stoffe dal negozio online inglese Seamstar con cui creerò nuove borse e astucci estivi. 

Su Seamstar avevo a disposizione una vasta scelta di stoffe primaverili dei migliori designer tessili ma alla fine ho puntato su queste tre stoffe. 

Per prima ho scelto "Kitty in Red" disegnata da Chloe's Closet perché richiama il tema del gatto e soprattutto perché rimanda allo stile anni '30: colori nitidi, immagini semplici e fantasia a pois. 

Dallo stile spensierato di "Kitty in Red" si passa alla fantasia contagiosa di Alexander Henry e della sua "Leaf in Red" (dalla collezione "Griffith Park"). Sul cotone si intrecciano rami di vite con foglie colorate che sfumano dal rosa al vinaccia. 

Infine che cosa si ottiene se si prende qualche agrume, qualche ortaggi ed utensili da cucina e li si vuole mischiare con una punta di stile retro? Ecco che nasce il cotone "Veggies" creato da Maude Asbury (collezione "Kitchy Kitchen") caratterizzato da colori brillanti, disegni nitidi e quella punta di grafica anni '60 che amo tanto. 

Per questo motivo ho subito "aggredito" questo cotone e ho confezionato una simpatica borsa estiva: VEGGIE che sicuramente andrà a ruba nel mio Bigcartel. 

Ora non mi resta che lavorare sulle altre stoffe ^_^

April has started in the best way: I received three beautiful fabrics from the online store Seamstar with which I will create new summer bags and cute cases. On Seamstar you can find a wide range of seasonal fabrics from best designers and in the end I focused my attention on these three cottons. 

First, I chose "Kitty in Red" designed by Chloe's Closet because she recalls the theme of the cat, represents a longing for the past in both colour and pattern like the '30s style: vibrant colors, simple images and polka dots prints. 

From the carefree style of "Kitty in Red" we can jump to the contagious fancy of Alexander Henry and his "Leaf in Red" (from the collection "Griffith Park"). It features vines and leaves, in a creative wavy design where the pink shades off into deep purple. 

What do you get if you take some citrus, some vegetables and kitchen utensils, and and give them a touch of retro style? You get the cotton "Veggies" created by Maude Asbury (collection "Kitchen Kitchy") characterized by bright colors, clear drawings and graphics that recall the '60s. 

I love this cotton and for this reason I have "attacked" it and created a nice summer bag: VEGGIE. It sells like hot cakes on my Bigcartel.
