Jätski: inside a Victorian Glasshouse

Take a quiet afternoon, add a couple of friends and a small English Victorian greenhouse.
Stop and take a moment to admire with a cup of tea in your hand all the beautiful things that grow with no hurry in a greenhouse. You just might find new inspiration.
Thus was born the lovely handbag ​​Jätski made with Scandinavian Marimekko "Jätski" fabric that recalls the colours of summer and the seaside.
As always I have entrusted to the online store Koti Design to procure Marimekko cotton prints.
With my friends Ainara and Gonul, we found a Victorian greenhouse and to our surprise we found inside buds ready to grow!

Prendi un tranquillo pomeriggio, un paio di amiche e una piccola serra vittoriana. Fermati un attimo ad ammirare la natura che cresce senza fretta con una tazza di te in mano e l'ispirazione arriverà da sola!
Così è nata la deliziosa borsa Jätski realizzata con il tessuto scandinavo Marimekko "Jätski" che richiama i colori dell'estate e del mare.
Come sempre mi sono affidata al negozio online Koti Design per procurarmi i pregiati tessuti Marimekko.
Con le mie amiche Ainara e Gonul ci siamo addentrate in una serra abbandonata e con nostra sorpresa abbiamo trovato all'interno dei germogli pronti a crescere.

Sunography Fabric Kit - Sun Powered Photography.
Place any object or transparency on the sunography fabric. Expose in bright sunlight, and rinse with water to reveal a rich blue print over assorted colours of fabric. Sunography fabric is 100% cotton, and light sensitive on both sides to make two sided prints. The superior quality of sunography fabric produces finely detailed prints. The prints can also be toned yellow or sepia using rinses with common household liquids. This type of print dates back to 1842 and was popularized by Anne Atkins, one of the first female photographers.

Moleskine sign

My latest sketch on my Moleskine.

I love adding to the pages some scraps from my latest fabrics.

When I lost in my thoughts, the ideas comes to me.

I drew this owl from an embroidery panel by Mrs Archibald Christie (1914), from The Victoria & Albert Museum's textile collection.

I saw on the train this cap from a girl and I was inspired for a new hat with rabbit ears.

I pasted the Henri Matisse's Il lanciatore di coltelli (1947).

I made ​​some sketches (a bag and a dress) and I put next to them two piece of cloth that I would use.

I cut pieces of cloth from my last fabrics shopping.

Poe Family

A metà strada tra lo stile gotico e vittoriano ho realizzato questa serie di creazioni con un panno di lana a trama tartan. Il pattern del tessuto è composto da una severa quadrettatura di fili bianchi e neri alternata a fili di color giallo limone, rosso mattone e verde smeraldo che donano un tocco vivace alla bicromia della struttura.

Con questo tessuto ho realizzato una serie che si chiama POE ed è dedicata allo scrittore americano Edgar Allan Poe perchè fin da piccola sono stata colpita dalla lettura della "Maschera della morte rossa". Questo tessuto mi ha ricordato la descrizione del palazzo del principe Prospero con le sue sette stanze di sette colori diversi.

I gusti del principe erano singolari. Aveva un occhio raffinato per i colori e gli effetti. Disprezzava le decorazioni alla moda. I suoi progetti erano coraggiosi e fieri, e le sue idee splendevano di un lustro barbarico.
