Happiness is a warm oven

Besides sewing I'm keen on cooking, yeah, let's say that I love testing new recipes on my lovely "guinea pig". For this reason I've created some nice aprons with colourful fabrics. 

As an Italian who lives abroad, I really love enjoying the meals with friends and I think that food is an important part of my culture. I eat for pleasure not only for nourishment ;) 

 

Dopo la mia passione per il cucito viene subito dopo quella per la cucina. Adoro spadellare, infornare e impastare. Non sono di certo una chef ma mi piace testare nuove ricette e varianti da sottoporre alla mia dolce "cavia". Per questo motivo ho cucito alcuni grembiuli da cucina con stoffe colorate e in tono. 

Come tante italiane all'estero non ho rinunciato alla buona cucina (lungi da me il cibo spazzatura inglese!), anzi coltivo la passione per le cose buone e mi piace condividere con gli amici la gioia di una buona cena.

Kitty Scarf (magenta version)

Chop chop, winter is coming and all you need is a warm and cute Kitty scarf like this.

It's made with a magenta striped wool material where I put some nice details as the button-eyes, ears and paws. Her dimensions are: 140 cm height x 26 cm width.
There is only one Kitty Scarf left on my store and as I have said before...chop chop!

   

Su su l'inverno siamo in pieno inverno e tutto quello che serve è una calda e deliziosa sciarpa gatto "Kitty scarf" come questa. Per realizzarla ho utilizzato un tessuto di lana color magenta a righe a cui ho aggiunto dei simpatici dettagli come le orecchie, le zampe, la coda e gli occhi bottoni. Le sue dimensioni sono: 140 cm (lunghezza) x 24 cm (larghezza).
Mi è rimasta solo un'esemplare di Kitty Scarf nel negozio online quindi come avevo detto in apertura...su su! ^_^

Poppy Family: Weirdo cat phone case and handbag

How many things can I create from a beautiful half yard with a lot of poppies? The answer is: a lot! 

I fall in love with Poppy Parade Floral fabric by Sandi Henderson for Michael Miller, sent to me from Nelaro Fabrics. It features large red, beige and lime flowers on a cream coloured background. 

With this material I've create some Weirdo cat phone cases and a gorgeous zipper handbag: Poppy Parade. What can I say? 

Everything has been much appreciated on my Big Cartel store and I think these creations can make great presents to find under any tree this holiday.

 

Quante creazioni posso cucire da poco più di mezzo metro di una stoffa colma di papaveri? La risposta è: molti! 

Mi sono perdutamente infatuata del cotone Poppy Parafe Floral disegnato da Sandi Henderson per Micheal Miller e acquistato dal negozio Nelaro Fabrics. La stoffa floreale contiene una distesa di papaveri color rosso, beige e lime su fondo color crema. 

Con questo tessuto ho cucito un po' di cover per cellulari a forma di gatto, i Weirdo Cat, e una deliziosa borsa con chiusura a zip: Poppy Parade. Che cosa posso aggiungere? La famiglia Poppy sta andando alla grande nel mio negozio Big Cartel e credo che queste creazioni fatte a mano possano essere una bel regalo da far trovare sotto l'albero questo natale!

Los Novios

August is endind and I'm preparing the new fall collection and I glad to show you the first two creations, Catrina handbag and Adelita Calavera messenger bag. The fabric "Los Novios" comes from one of the Alexander Henry's bestselling collection: Folklorico. 

I was literally thrilled when I received this cotton from the online shop Seamstar. 

I love everything of this pattern, from the colours to the Mexican sugar skull wedding couple and I think I did a good job with these bags. Probably I'll buy more fabric because I can not resist using it again, so keep in touch with my Bigcartel shop and celebrate the next Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) festivities with these beautiful handmade bags!
Lastly, just remeber: El Amor es Para Siempre!

 

Agosto sta finendo e così mi diletto nel preparare nuove borse per la collezione autunnale tra cui le nuove Catrina (borsa) e Adelita Calavera (tracolla). La stoffa che usato si chiama "Los Novios" e proviene da una delle collezioni più vendute nella storia del brand Alexander Henry, ovvero "Folklorico". 

Ero letteralmente esaltata quando ho ricevuto l'ordine dal negozio online di tessuti Seamstar. 

Adoro praticamente tutto di questo contone dai colori alla grafica con gli sposi scheletri e mi pare di aver fatto anche un bel lavoro con le borse. Probabilmente acquisterò altra stoffa perchè non posso resistere dall'usarla di nuovo, quindi restate collegati al mio negozio online e festeggiate il Day of the Dead che arriverà a Novembre con queste deliziose borse fatte a mano.

My sweet stall

Yay! Here you are my sweet stall at the Southampton Vintage and Artisans Craft Fair ♥

I had a good day and I met a lot of nice people. I love talking to the people about my works. For instance I spent half of hour to talk with a cute granny about our sewing machines ahah luckily I was there with a nice helper and when I was busy with this lady he served the other customers.

A lot of people asked me where I found my beautiful fabrics and I suggested them my favorites shops.

What do you think about my stall? Any suggestions?

First I need to buy a rail to hang on all my handbags and a lot of new business card.

I'm ready for the next one!

 

Ecco a voi le foto della mia bancarella al Southampton Vintage and Artisans Craft Fair. 

Ho passato davvero un bel pomeriggio e ho incontrato tanta gente simpatica. 

Adoro chiacchierare con le persone interessate ai miei lavori. Per esempio ho speso mezzora a parlare con una nonnina a proposito delle nostre macchine da cucire ma per fortuna ero in compagnia di un valido aiutante che assisteva i clienti mentre ero impegnata in questa discussione. 

Tantissime persone mi hanno chiesto dove compro tutte le belle stoffe che uso e ovviamente gli ho consigliato i miei negozi preferiti. 

Bene, che ne pensate del mio allestimento colorato? Qualche suggerimento? 

Sicuramente dovrò comprare un'appendiabiti per le borse e soprattutto devo ordinare tanti nuovi biglietti da visita. 

Yeah, sono pronta al prossimo mercatino inglese!

Woow I really like this family because reminds me the beauty of Paris with its Tour Eiffel, Basilique du Sacré-Cœur and the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel.

Pressed for time

Time is against me! 

I need to prepare a lot of new items like brooches, handbags and iphone cases for this saturday. AAAAH, the Southampton Vintage and Artisans Craft Fair is really close. 

Besides the count down my weirdo cats (iPhone cases) were featured on cuteiscute site. I'm really happy!

Oh, I was also featured on Strongisland in the article about the amazing shop Shoal in Portsmouth.

 

Ho davvero pochissimo tempo per preparare tante nuove creazioni da esporre al Southampton Vintage and Artisans Craft Fair. 

Ah..il tempo è contro di me. Ho preparato un po' di spille e cover iphone ma vorrei portare più creazioni. 

A parte questo ho scoperto che i miei Weirdo Cat (cover iphone) sono stati selezionati sul sito Cuteiscute. Che bello! 

Ho un'altra segnalazione da fare, sono comparsa come artista locale di Portsmouth grazie all'articolo sul negozio Shoal e pubblicato su Strongisland. Forte!

A soft spot for Marimekko fabrics

I have a soft spot for Marimekko fabrics because they remind me the tea towels of my childhood. When I was a child I used to drink tea in a lovely old mug with a scandinavian drawing on it. 

Now I have the great possibility to make new handbags with these gorgeous finnish cottons. 

Eevi (with a zipper closure) it's made with Rasymatto fabric from Marimekko collection, Maija is an handbag made using 100% cotton Finnish Marimekko fabric in their signature Unikko Red and Pink design. While Florinia (with a zipper closure) is made with a combination of fabrics from Marimekko, Horrockses and Robert Kaufman.

Ho un'infatuazione speciale per le stoffe Marimekko perchè mi ricordano tanto gli stofinacci della mia infanzia, in special modo da bambina ero solita bere il te in una vecchia tazza con un disegno scandinavo sopra. 

Oggi ho la possibilità di creare tante nuove cose con i cotoni Marimekko e soprattutto borse. 

Eevi (con la chiusura a zip) è stata realizzata con il cotone verde Rasymatto Marimekko, Maija invece con il cotone Unikko in versione rossa. Mentre Florinia (con chiusura a zip) è stata fatta mischiando tessuti Marimekko, Horrockses e di Robert Kaufman. 

A breve arriveranno tante nuove borse seguitemi qui o nel negozio online.

Juliet and Dee Dee

Buon sabato! Proprio oggi ho deciso di pubblicare nel mio negozio online le romantiche borse in stoffa Juliet e Dee Dee perfette per la bella stagione. Ormai conoscete la mia dipendenza da cotoni stampati ;)

Per creare Juliet ho utilizzato il cotone stampato a cuori Hearts and Dots (mio recente acquisto su Abakhan) mentre per il bordo ho deciso di applicare il cotone anni '30 Kitty in Red di Chloe's Closet. La ciliegina sulla torta di Juliet è la spilla a fiocco creata con un simpatico bottone felino di Buttonmad. 

So chic! 

Dee Dee ha un carattere più spigliato e la sua forma la rende pratica in ogni occasione. Per questa tracolla ho deciso di evidenziare al massimo la bellezza del pattern Kitty in Red (acquistato su Seamstar) usando solo questo cotone aggiungendo pochi dettagli: un bordo nero, la tracolla e il bottone bianco.

Happy Saturday! 

Today I decided to upload online the romantic fabric handbags Juliet and Dee Dee perfectly suited for this spring. 

I used the printed cotton Hearts and Dots (my recent purchase from Abakhan) to create Juliet while for its board I decided to apply the 30s cotton style Kitty in Red by Chloe's Closet. The icing on the cake for Juliet is the bow brooch with a cute button cat by Buttonmad. 

So chic! 

Dee Dee is a more breezy and its shape makes it very practical for every occasion. For this shoulder bag I decided to emphasize the beauty of Kitty in red (purchased from Seamstar). In fact I added only few details: a black shoulder strap and a white button.
