A soft spot for Marimekko fabrics

I have a soft spot for Marimekko fabrics because they remind me the tea towels of my childhood. When I was a child I used to drink tea in a lovely old mug with a scandinavian drawing on it. 

Now I have the great possibility to make new handbags with these gorgeous finnish cottons. 

Eevi (with a zipper closure) it's made with Rasymatto fabric from Marimekko collection, Maija is an handbag made using 100% cotton Finnish Marimekko fabric in their signature Unikko Red and Pink design. While Florinia (with a zipper closure) is made with a combination of fabrics from Marimekko, Horrockses and Robert Kaufman.

Ho un'infatuazione speciale per le stoffe Marimekko perchè mi ricordano tanto gli stofinacci della mia infanzia, in special modo da bambina ero solita bere il te in una vecchia tazza con un disegno scandinavo sopra. 

Oggi ho la possibilità di creare tante nuove cose con i cotoni Marimekko e soprattutto borse. 

Eevi (con la chiusura a zip) è stata realizzata con il cotone verde Rasymatto Marimekko, Maija invece con il cotone Unikko in versione rossa. Mentre Florinia (con chiusura a zip) è stata fatta mischiando tessuti Marimekko, Horrockses e di Robert Kaufman. 

A breve arriveranno tante nuove borse seguitemi qui o nel negozio online.

Dog Bandana

Hi! Last week I prepared these cute dog bandana for Ida and her cute three Jack Russell. The bandana are custom-made on the size of the dogs and I used two kind of cotton for each side that I've stitched together with my sewing machine. To embellish more my work I set up a cute brown felt paw with the initial of each dog embroidered. For this reason you can see A is for Angie, P is for Pastis and Z is for Zady.

Ida and her friends was really satisfied about my work ^_^

Tadaaa! Era da un po' di tempo che vi volevo mostrare le deliziose bandane per cani che ho realizzato per la cara Ida e per i suoi tre adorabili Jack Russell.

La bandana è stata creata su misura per la taglia dei suoi cagnolini ed è composta da due strati di cotone cuciti a macchina. Per rendere le bandane ancora più graziose ho applicato una zampa in feltro marroncino e vi ho ricamato a mano le iniziali dei cani. In questo caso P sta per Pastis, Z sta per Zady e A sta per Angie.

Ida è rimasta molto soddisfatta e anche i suoi cagnolini ^_^

Hello my name is totoro

Totoro is undoubtedly my favorite character from Hayao Miyazaki's filmography. For this reason I created a new felt brooch: Totoro available on http://fedulab.bigcartel.com/

I made both grey and blue version, but my favorite is the grey one. 

If you buy one you will receive the brooch inside a lovely packaging, a green leaves pack. I used a green softie paper and I sewed the leaves nervature with my sewing machine. 

Finally I stiched up with a button and I applied a cute tag.

Totoro è senza dubbio il mio personaggio preferito dei film di Hayao Miyazaki, per questo motivo ho creato una spilla tributo in feltro: Totoro disponibile nel mio negozio online http://fedulab.bigcartel.com/

Ho realizzato sia la versione grigia che quella blu, ma la mia preferita rimane quella grigia. 

Se acquisterete uno spilla Totoro la riceverete all'interno di un delizioso packaging ovvero un pacchetto di foglie verdi. 

Ho usato una morbida carta verde su cui ho riprodotto le nervature delle foglie con la mia macchina da cucire. Alla fine ho chiuso il fagottino con un paio di punti di cucito e ho applicato un la simpatica tag. 

A me piacciono tantissimo e hanno già riscosso successo ;)

Tutorial: diy brooch packaging

Dopo avervi mostrato le ultime spille che ho creato, oggi vi propongo un piccolo tutorial sul come realizzare dei simpatici packaging per confezionare piccoli oggetti, io ad esempio ho impacchettato delle spille che ho spedito alle mie clienti. 

Per formare le confezioni ho utilizzato dei ritagli di stoffa, carta, un foglio di plastica e del filo. 

Mi è subito piaciuto questo packaging perché permette di creare un simpatico contenitore e consente di riutilizzare i vostri ritagli di stoffa e carta/cartone. 

- Prima di tutto sistemate il tessuto tra la carta e il foglio di plastica 

- Selezionate il punto zig-zag e iniziate a cucire assieme gli strati. 

- Cucite i primi tre lati e al quarto inserite la spilla in modo da chiuderla. 

- Rifinite il bordo del packaging ritagliando l'eccesso. 

...e voilà! Ora non resta che divertirsi e scartare la spilla ^_^

After the post a little while ago about my latest brooches, today I'd go with one small tutorial for a nice packaging for brooches, that I sent to my customers.
I used scraps of fabrics, paper, a plastic sheet and the thread. I immediately liked this packaging because it's easy and looks rally effective!

- First, place the fabric between paper and plastic sheet
- Select the zigzag stitch and start sewing the layers together.
- Sew the three sides and on the fourth put the pin and close it.
- Now cut the excess of packaging.

and ... voila! Now you just have fun and discard the badge ^ _ ^

Hares, Paws and me

Da oggi sono tornate disponibili le spille Hare e Paws. 

La spilla Hare ha tinte delicate ed è molto vanitosa del proprio codino lilla a pon pon, mentre le spille Paws sono fatte per essere abbinate in più colori. Ho usato feltro colorato che sfuma dal color panna al marrone cioccolato. 

Ecco come le indosserei io, forse sono un po' esagerata ma sono troppo simpatiche.

Le spille in feltro sono disponibili nel negozio online e se avete in mente idee da realizzare contattatemi!

Materiali usati: feltro colorato, imbottitura in poliestere, fili Aurifil e spille.

Handmade Hare and Paws felt brooches are back. 

The classy Hare brooch is very vain of its cute violet pon pon scut, while Paws brooches are made to be combined in multiple colors. I used colored felt that shades from cream to chocolate brown. 

Here's how I'd wear them, maybe I'm a bit 'excessive, but they're are too funny and pretty.

Mancano solo 19 giorni a natale e a breve dovremmo acquistare i fatidici regali natalizi.

Oltre ad avere il tipico problema del "cosa" regalare da un paio di anni sono assillata dal "come" presentare. Mi spiego: vorrei trovare una soluzione carina per impacchettare i regali in modo creativo e insolito.

Stamattina è arrivata l'illuminazione attraverso le bellissime idee di Jessica Wilson (aka Jek in the box).

Perché non usare ritagli di tessuti per le gift tag? Oppure impacchettare in modo originale usando tulle, fili e bottoni? Io li trovo deliziosi e di sicuro mi applicherò.

Ta dah! Another 19 sleeps till Christmas day and we should buy all the Xmas' gifts.

Left aside this time the problem about "what" buy , I'm resolving the problem about "how to" exhibit them. Let me explain: I would like to find a nice solution for a creative and unusual packaging.

This morning I've found a greatest inspiration from the beautiful Jessica Wilson's ideas (aka Jek in the box).

Why don't use scraps of fabric to make a gift tag? Try to wrap the gifts with tulle, thread and buttons. I think they're so delicious!

Sewing in orange

Per distrarmi e rilassarmi un po' dalla stesura della tesi ho iniziato un nuovo mini progetto di ricamo.

Dopo aver ricamato un gufo, ho tratto dai miei temi preferiti il disegno per il mio nuovo lavoretto. Per il fondo ho usato un cotone arancione e ho selezionato una palette di cinque colori=fili da utilizzare.

Non sarà un lavoro velocissimo perché ho deciso di usare il punto pieno (a doppio ripasso) e quindi ci vuole un po' più di pazienza.

Appena l'avrò terminato vi farò vedere i risultati; intanto mi rilasso ascoltando i Boards of Canada.

I started a new mini embroidery project, while distracting myself a little from thesis.

I took inspiration from my favorite themes for this work. For the background I used an orange cotton and I selected a palette of five colors = threads to use.

It will not be a fast work because I'm using the satin stitch to cover all the sections.

Let's go sewing and listening to Boards of Canada.

Nocturnia

Sono tornata dal mio breve soggiorno in Uk e ieri notte mi sono messa a terminare delle creazioni che avevo lasciato in sospeso.

Mi piace molto creare di notte accompagnata da una buona musica.

Verso mezzanotte ho portato a termine quattro astucci: con tessuto Día de Muertos (da Fancy Moon), con tessuto inglese Skulls'n'roses, con cotone giapponese Kokka Neko e con tessuto Kokka patchwork. Quest'ultimo sarà protagonista del prossimo giveaway.

Approposito di giveaway...state partecipando a quello di Fashion what else per vincere la deliziosa tracolla Pois Eiffel?

Infine mi sono messa a creare con i pannolenci colorati delle spille a forma di sushi usando i pregiati filati di Aurifil. Ho appurato l'abissale differenza tra l'uso di un filo medio-buono e di uno ottimo. Sarà forse per questo che questi filati sono usati nell'alta moda?

Vi mostro le foto che ho fatto ieri notte: alla faccia di chi dice che le foto di notte alle creazioni non si fanno...tipo me. Però ho fatto giusto un'eccezione.

Hey, i'm just come back from UK and last night I finished some cute creations for my customers.

I really like to create in the night when I accompanied by good music.

Around midnight I finished four cases with Día de Muertos fabric (from Fancymoon), with English Skulls'n'roses fabric and with Kokka's cotton neko and patchwork. The latter will be lead on the next giveaway (stay tuned!).

Sulla scia di queste parole vorrei introdurvi i lavori della giovane maglierista svedese Sandra Backlund.
