Dog Bandana

Hi! Last week I prepared these cute dog bandana for Ida and her cute three Jack Russell. The bandana are custom-made on the size of the dogs and I used two kind of cotton for each side that I've stitched together with my sewing machine. To embellish more my work I set up a cute brown felt paw with the initial of each dog embroidered. For this reason you can see A is for Angie, P is for Pastis and Z is for Zady.

Ida and her friends was really satisfied about my work ^_^

Tadaaa! Era da un po' di tempo che vi volevo mostrare le deliziose bandane per cani che ho realizzato per la cara Ida e per i suoi tre adorabili Jack Russell.

La bandana è stata creata su misura per la taglia dei suoi cagnolini ed è composta da due strati di cotone cuciti a macchina. Per rendere le bandane ancora più graziose ho applicato una zampa in feltro marroncino e vi ho ricamato a mano le iniziali dei cani. In questo caso P sta per Pastis, Z sta per Zady e A sta per Angie.

Ida è rimasta molto soddisfatta e anche i suoi cagnolini ^_^

Per distrarmi e rilassarmi un po' dalla stesura della tesi ho iniziato un nuovo mini progetto di ricamo.

Dopo aver ricamato un gufo, ho tratto dai miei temi preferiti il disegno per il mio nuovo lavoretto. Per il fondo ho usato un cotone arancione e ho selezionato una palette di cinque colori=fili da utilizzare.

Non sarà un lavoro velocissimo perché ho deciso di usare il punto pieno (a doppio ripasso) e quindi ci vuole un po' più di pazienza.

Appena l'avrò terminato vi farò vedere i risultati; intanto mi rilasso ascoltando i Boards of Canada.

I started a new mini embroidery project, while distracting myself a little from thesis.

I took inspiration from my favorite themes for this work. For the background I used an orange cotton and I selected a palette of five colors = threads to use.

It will not be a fast work because I'm using the satin stitch to cover all the sections.

Love you Owl-ways

Spesso per realizzare un'idea carina basta davvero poco e nel mio caso è bastato avere sottomano un pezzo di cotone arancione e un filo blu (meglio se di qualità, io ho usato infatti un filato 100% cotone egiziano Aurifil).

Volevo ricamare qualcosa di speciale e da incorniciare così sono andata sul sicuro: un gufo.

Ho sfogliato il mio moleskine "breviario dell'ispirazione" e ho ripreso un disegno con un gufo dalle ali aperte. Poi ho modificato gli occhi e mi sono messa all'opera.

Per dare ritmo al ricamo ho usato diversi spessori al punto e ho aggiunto solo un tocco di filo beige per il dettaglio delle ali.

Sono davvero soddisfatta del risultato e soprattutto mi piace tantissimo l'effetto lucente che assume il filato di cotone blu quando è colpito dalla luce.

Sometime you need just a few things to make a nice needlework. For me it was enough to have a piece of orance cotton and blue cotton thread (I used a 100% egyptian cotton by Aurifil ).

I need to stitch something special on it so I kept a safe subject: an owl.

I consulted my moleskine "compendium of inspiration" and I took a picture with an owl with open wings. Then I changed its eyes and I started to work.

I gave rhythm to embroidery by using a different thickness to the points and I added just a touch of beige thread on the wings' detail.

I'm really satisfied about the result and most of all I like the bright effect that assume the blue cotton thread when it's struck by light.

What a mawkish girl!

Per la serie: "Che noia le camicette troppo semplici". Cercavo una camicetta carina e con quel qualcosa di particolare per giustificale un acquisto sensato.

Alla fine ho risolto la questione acquistando una camicetta con righine bianche e rosse che ho poi arricchito con due gufi sopra le taschine.

Ho ricamato con pazienza il tutto e ho aggiunto una piccola iniziale tra due cuoricini. Vi piace?

I decided to embellish a red and white striped shirt. So I have embroidered two owls above the pockets and a little capital letter...for my british love. YAY!

Come molti sapranno la rivista Fiber Arts ha smesso di pubblicare a inizio di questa estate. Al suo posto gli abbonati (come me) ricevono il magazine Quilting Arts.

Oggi ho ricevuto la mia prima copia e devo dire che ho notato molte differenze.

Il taglio editoriale di Quilting Arts è rivolto, come il titolo segnala, alla tecnica del quilt con poche eccezioni ad altre tecniche.

Sicuramente c'è sempre da imparare da questa rivista, ma un po' rimpiango le sezioni dedicate alle mostre e agli artisti tessili di Fiber Arts.

Now I receive Quilting Arts and I take my time and explore this issue.

Con queste spille a forma di zampetta oggi chiudo il mio laboratorio. Rimarrò inattiva sicuramente fino all'inizio di agosto, ma continuerò ad aggiornare il blog con le ultime novità dal mondo creativo e tessile.

MANATEE LOVES ACORN

I made a lovely cover for mp3 player with an hand embroidered manatee that embraces his acorn. It's so cute!

I used a lilac fabric with white small polka dots.

Why I like so much the manatees?

Then I realized this cell phone cover in the shape of a cat. Honestly, it is not quite the shape of a cat. Yeah I know. But it is also liked very much and I love LINNA cat too.

Keep calm and sew geek - Game Boy handmade covers family

Ho ufficialmente terminato la mia sessione d'esami invernali e con somma gioia mi lascio alle spalle un gennaio non facile. Tra malattia ed esami il tempo di produrre è stato ridotto a zero.

Ma ora torno a produrre a pieno regime e ho colto la commissione di Azzurra per sfoderare le mie armi migliori.

Mi è stato chiesto di creare una cover Iphone, una cover hard disk e due cover per Mac a forma di Game Boy Nintendo. Negli schermi dei due copri pc dovevo ricreare un livello di Pacman e uno di Super Mario.

"Bene" mi sono detta. Armata di ago e filo ho pazientemente ricamato i due livelli di giochi richiestomi. Ho poi costruito su misura la cover, l'ho imbottita e ho infine applicato i dettagli.

I have officially finished the winter session of exams, and with great joy I am leaving behind an awful January. With flue and exams i had no time to produce nothing.

But now I'm back and I took the Azzurra's special order to pull off my best handmade weapons.

She asked me to create a cover for Iphone, a cover for hard disk and two covers for Mac shaped as Nintendo Game Boy. Into two screens covers for PC I create a level of a Pacman and Super Mario. Yeah! She loves video game ^_^

I said "Well". I patiently sewing the two levels of video games armed with a needle and thread embroidery. Then I tailored the covers, I padded them and I finally applied the handmade details.
