A soft spot for Marimekko fabrics

I have a soft spot for Marimekko fabrics because they remind me the tea towels of my childhood. When I was a child I used to drink tea in a lovely old mug with a scandinavian drawing on it. 

Now I have the great possibility to make new handbags with these gorgeous finnish cottons. 

Eevi (with a zipper closure) it's made with Rasymatto fabric from Marimekko collection, Maija is an handbag made using 100% cotton Finnish Marimekko fabric in their signature Unikko Red and Pink design. While Florinia (with a zipper closure) is made with a combination of fabrics from Marimekko, Horrockses and Robert Kaufman.

Ho un'infatuazione speciale per le stoffe Marimekko perchè mi ricordano tanto gli stofinacci della mia infanzia, in special modo da bambina ero solita bere il te in una vecchia tazza con un disegno scandinavo sopra. 

Oggi ho la possibilità di creare tante nuove cose con i cotoni Marimekko e soprattutto borse. 

Eevi (con la chiusura a zip) è stata realizzata con il cotone verde Rasymatto Marimekko, Maija invece con il cotone Unikko in versione rossa. Mentre Florinia (con chiusura a zip) è stata fatta mischiando tessuti Marimekko, Horrockses e di Robert Kaufman. 

A breve arriveranno tante nuove borse seguitemi qui o nel negozio online.

Awesome Citoyennes de Berlin

Appena ho visto il negozio online della giovane designer berlinese Andrea è stato amore a prima vista. Così mi sono interessata ai suoi lavori e sono diventata una vera fan delle creazioni Citoyennes de Berlin. Andrea ama rielaborare grafiche vintage anni Sessanta (vedi gli adesivi con la mela) e anche i temi floreali (ispirati alla pittura nordica settecentesca). Il mio preferito in assoluto rimane il tema dell'uccellino sulla spilla e non vedo l'ora di appendere in casa le tre cartoline con il cerbiatto con le ali, il pettirosso e la lepre con papillon. Nelle foto si vede solo una piccola selezione dei suoi oggetti, vi consiglio di visitare il suo blog per respirare un po' di fresca aria berlinese e ammirare tutti suoi lavori.

Andrea is a Berlin-based young designer and owner of a cool lil-brand Citoyennes de Berlin. I'm interested in her artworks and I'm very fond of Citoyennes de Berlin's creations . Andrea loves vintage sixties graphic (see the stickers with the apple) and even the floral theme (such of the eighteenth century). My absolute favorite subject is the bird on the brooch and I can't wait to hang at home the three postcards with winged deer, the robin and the hare with a bow tie. I recommend you visit her blog to breathing the fresh air of Berlin.

Cultiu Urbà

I knitters sono di nuovo all'attacco!

Dopo aver avvolto in panni colorati di lana alberi, pali, fermate dell'autubus, idranti e quant'altro si potesse trovare sulla strada, arrivano anche gli attacchi di guerilla per creare giardini in verticale con la tecnica del crochet.

Mi piacerebbe molto incontrare per strada un giardino verticale in uncinetto: colorato e succolente!

Knitters attack!

Spanish knitters had create vertical gardens with the technique of crochet.

Rijswijk Textile Biennial 2011

A Venezia c'è la Biennale del vetro, dell'arte contemporanea, del teatro e dell'architettura.

Per visitare la Biennale dell'arte tessile contemporanea, invece, si deve volare fino al Museo Rijswijk, nell'omonima città belga, dove fino all'11 Settembre sarà ospitata la Textile Biennial 2011.

La Biennale è al suo secondo anno di vita e sono certa che negli anni futuri si arricchirà di nuove e importanti presenze.

Museum Rijswijk will be mounting the second Rijswijk Textile Biennial from 7 June until 11 September 2011.

Nothing is quite what it seems. An exquisitely woven wall hanging with holes burned in it? Knuckle-dusters and skeletons made of satin? Images embroidered on porcelain? This is just a small selection of the work by twenty artists who use textiles as a means of communication. Who says knitting, embroidery and crocheting are traditional and passé? The artists toy with this stuffy image in order to set the viewer on the wrong track.

Their work closely follows current developments in the arts, making critical but also humorous statements about politics, identity, origin and sexuality.
