Southsea Sunday Market

Here I am again! 

August is flying away and after a bad period I am ready to sew again a lot of creations for the autumn/winter collection. 

But today here in Southsea run a lovely farmers market: the Hampshire farmers' market. More than 20 vendors offered a great selection of local produce, dairy, cheese, meat, ready-to-eat, sweets, fresh bread, wine, crafts and flowers. I really love this atmosphere!

 

Eccomi di nuovo! 

Agosto vola velocissimo e dopo un periodo non troppo felice finalmente sono pronta sfornare le nuove creazioni per la stagione autunnale. Cosa c'è di meglio di farsi ispirare dai colori e profumi del mercato?

Stamattina si è tenuto nel centro di Southsea un delizioso mercato che riuniva i migliori venditori di prodotti naturali dell'Hampshire farmers' market. Un tripudio di colori e prodotti tra cui verdure, carne, formaggi, pane, dolci e fiori. Davvero bello!

My sweet stall

Yay! Here you are my sweet stall at the Southampton Vintage and Artisans Craft Fair ♥

I had a good day and I met a lot of nice people. I love talking to the people about my works. For instance I spent half of hour to talk with a cute granny about our sewing machines ahah luckily I was there with a nice helper and when I was busy with this lady he served the other customers.

A lot of people asked me where I found my beautiful fabrics and I suggested them my favorites shops.

What do you think about my stall? Any suggestions?

First I need to buy a rail to hang on all my handbags and a lot of new business card.

I'm ready for the next one!

 

Ecco a voi le foto della mia bancarella al Southampton Vintage and Artisans Craft Fair. 

Ho passato davvero un bel pomeriggio e ho incontrato tanta gente simpatica. 

Adoro chiacchierare con le persone interessate ai miei lavori. Per esempio ho speso mezzora a parlare con una nonnina a proposito delle nostre macchine da cucire ma per fortuna ero in compagnia di un valido aiutante che assisteva i clienti mentre ero impegnata in questa discussione. 

Tantissime persone mi hanno chiesto dove compro tutte le belle stoffe che uso e ovviamente gli ho consigliato i miei negozi preferiti. 

Bene, che ne pensate del mio allestimento colorato? Qualche suggerimento? 

Sicuramente dovrò comprare un'appendiabiti per le borse e soprattutto devo ordinare tanti nuovi biglietti da visita. 

Yeah, sono pronta al prossimo mercatino inglese!

Woow I really like this family because reminds me the beauty of Paris with its Tour Eiffel, Basilique du Sacré-Cœur and the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel. 

My handmade creations are soft but highly stable. I hope you like them too beacause they are waiting for you on my estore.

E' con grande piacere che vi mostro la famiglia Amelie composta da una borsa, un porta iphone e un copri kindle; il tutto è stato fatto con la meravigliosa stoffa Timeless Treasures - Hoodie Daytime. 

Come si fa a non amarla? La stoffa richiama le maggiori attrazioni di Parigi con un design davvero bello e che aggiunge alle mie creazioni un pizzico di magia.

Pressed for time

Time is against me! 

I need to prepare a lot of new items like brooches, handbags and iphone cases for this saturday. AAAAH, the Southampton Vintage and Artisans Craft Fair is really close. 

Besides the count down my weirdo cats (iPhone cases) were featured on cuteiscute site. I'm really happy!

Oh, I was also featured on Strongisland in the article about the amazing shop Shoal in Portsmouth.

 

Ho davvero pochissimo tempo per preparare tante nuove creazioni da esporre al Southampton Vintage and Artisans Craft Fair. 

Ah..il tempo è contro di me. Ho preparato un po' di spille e cover iphone ma vorrei portare più creazioni. 

A parte questo ho scoperto che i miei Weirdo Cat (cover iphone) sono stati selezionati sul sito Cuteiscute. Che bello! 

Ho un'altra segnalazione da fare, sono comparsa come artista locale di Portsmouth grazie all'articolo sul negozio Shoal e pubblicato su Strongisland. Forte! 

Bene ora torno al lavoro ;)

You usually see the final version of Fedulab creations, ready to be shipped somewhere. Today I want to show you some "making of" my creations with a lot of threads, buttons, and scraps.

Di solito siete abituati a vedere le mie creazioni belle e pronte. Oggi rovescio il trend e vi faccio vedere un po' di lavoro nel backstage del Fedulab alle prese con forbici, fili, pezzi di stoffa e bottoni.

All the world's a stage

Come ormai saprete da un paio di mesi mi sono stabilita in Inghilterra e qui oltre a portare avanti il Fedulab ho trovato un altro lavoro: sarta teatrale e assistente ai costumi del Groundlings Theatre di Portsmouth. 

Praticamente lavoro a stretto contatto con Stephanie, la Wardrobe supervisor, e mi occupo di tenere in ordine il più possibile l'immensa sala, consigliare gli abbinamenti migliori per gli attori e riparare gli abiti. 

Inutile dirvi che sono molto soddisfatta di questo part-time perché mi permette di stare a contatto con il mondo del tessuto, di imparare il gergo inglese tecnico-sartoriale e soprattutto riconoscere gli abiti in base al loro periodo storico. In Inghilterra infatti gli abiti sono suddivisi per stirpi monarchiche e quindi ho appreso ad esempio la differenze tra un abito Tudor, Elizabethian, Victorian, Empire, Georgian ecc. 

Vedete l'abito stile anni '20 in seta e ricamato di strass? Bene l'ho completamente risistemato io ;) Quando l'ho preso tra le mani aveva tutti i ricami d perline e strass che cedevano, il mio lavoro è stato quello di fissarle di nuovo con ago e filo, ci ho messo tre settimane!

Blythe retro party dresses

Rieccomi! 

Un po' alla volta posterò tutte le creazioni che ho preparato in queste settimane. 

Oggi vi mostro uno dei miei ultimi esperimenti ovvero degli abitini da cocktail per Blythe. Conoscete la Blythe Doll? In breve si tratta di una bambola inventata negli anni '70 ma che è ritornata di moda negli ultimi anni. La sua particolarità risiede nelle infinite varianti che può assumere, infatti si possono modificare a piacere taglio di capelli, lunghezza, colore di capelli e di occhi. 

Mi sono ispirata agli abiti da cocktail tipici degli anni '50, caratterizzati da un'ampia gonna e vita alta. 

Il primo modello è realizzato con un tessuto a quadretti bianco e rosso a cui ho applicato in vita dei fiorellini. 

Per il secondo invece ho scelto un pezzo di stoffa Sakura, con cui ho realizzato anche la borsa Sakura. 

La modella ufficiale del mio esperimento micro-sartoriale è Ortensia, la bambola di Patty e a cui va il merito delle belle foto per questo post.

 

Fedulab is back!

During this week I will post all the creations I made a couple of weeks ago. Today I want to show you one of my recent experiment: two retro party dresses for Blythe. 

Do you know who is the Blythe Doll? In short it is a doll created in the 70s and recentely has been in vogue. Its particularity is the infinite variations which you can obtain just changing its hairstyle, length, color of hair and eyes. 

I was inspired by the typical '50s cocktail dresses, characterized by a high waist and wide skirt. 

The first model is made with a red and white checkered fabric and I applied on the waist some flowers. 

For the second one I chose a piece of Sakura fabric, with which I also made the bag Sakura. 

The official model of my experiment in micro-tailoring is Ortensia, the Patty's doll and she has taken these handsome pictures for my blog.

Sarah Young

Oggi vi voglio parlare di un'illustratrice inglese di grande talento: Sarah Young. 

Sono follemente innamorata delle sue illustrazioni, dei dettagli sorprendenti nei suoi disegni e in particolare del suo stile inconfondibile ispirato al mondo burlesque, all'universo circense e dalle favole russe, oltre che dal mondo mitologico. 

La sua serigrafia è assolutamente meravigliosa! 

I miei oggetti preferiti sono gli strofinacci come Bertha, Felix la volpe e ovviamente il Oswald il gufo (che si trasformano in cuscini!).

Today I wanna introduce you about a very talented english illustrator Sarah Young. 

I'm madly in love with her ​​illustrations, the amazing details in the drawings and particularly his distinctive style inspired from burlesque, circus universe and folks tales. She also take inspiration from narrative and myth world. 

Her screenprinting is totally amazing! My favorite items are the teatowels like Bertha, Felix the Fox and obviously the Oswald the Owl.

Sakura and Odoriko

Eccomi di nuovo!

Con grande gioia vi mostro le mie prime due borse prodotte direttamente dalla mia nuova postazione inglese: Sakura e Odoriko (disponibili nel mio negozio online). 

La stoffa che ho usato per la borsa Sakura viene direttamente dal Giappone e riporta su sfondo nero i fiori di ciliegio che sfumano dal rosa al bianco. Una stoffa davvero delicata. 

Mentre per la borsa Odoriko ho unito alla stoffa sakura un pezzo di tessuto Odoriko Dancers di Alexander Henry (acquistata dal sito Fancy Moon). Il risultato è venuto molto bene perché i fiori di ciliegio ben si intonano con i motivi d'orati della stoffa con i danzatori in kimono. La collezione primaverile Fedulab sta prendendo piede.

Here I am again with my newest two bags directly created from my new English station: Sakura and Odoriko (available in my online store). 

The fabric I used for Sakura bags comes from Japan and reports on cherry blossoms where the pink shades off into white. A very delicate fabric for a nice handmade bag.

For Odoriko bag I put together the sakura's fabric with a piece Alexander Henry's Odoriko Dancers (purchased from Fancy Moon). The final result outcame very well because the cherry blossoms' fabric well suited with the Japanese dancers of the last fabric. 

The spring collection Fedulab is catching on...stay tuned.

Three Mustache scarf

Brrr...siamo a novembre e giustamente si inizia a sentire quel freddino tale per cui se non hai una giacca e una sciarpa non puoi uscire. Il momento buono per realizzare delle sciarpe arriva quando mi giunge voce che la maggior parte dei miei amici inizia ad accusare sintomi influenzali.

Così seguendo la "domanda di mercato" ho preparato delle sciarpe di colore rosso a cui ho applicato tre baffi al fondo. All'estremo opposto della sciarpa ho invece cucito un cuore rosa di peluche in cui ho inserito la mia firma dipinta a mano.

Mi piace molto questa sciarpa spiritosa e l'ho chiamata semplicemente

Winter here we come! You can't go out without wearing a scarf and a jacket.

A good time to make scarves comes when my friends starting to be sick, I simply followed the "market demand" and I made the red scarves with three mustache applied to the bottom. At the opposite end of the scarf I hand stitched a cute pink heart where I put my hand-painted signature.

I really like this scarf and it's called Three Mustache.
