My last four weeks as a freelance machinist

Here I am again! Well, it has been a while since I last posted. During the last four weeks I have started two jobs in the same time: one as Library Advisor at the University for the Creative Arts and the other as a freelance machinist. 

Please believe me when I say that I have worked seven days a week. Am I insane? No, it is because I am a Gemini and Gemini is always doing two things at once...aaaaaah! 

It has been a pleasure working for Nicole Philips England because I really love their printed materials. 

Here you are some snaps when I was working in my lab. Fabrics, bias, waddings,  scraps and a tons of threads.......everywhere.

Nicole, the founder and painter, is now in London to launch her brand during the Country Living Fair. Let's say that a piece of Fedulab is also there. A big good luck Nicole!

Kitty Scarf (magenta version)

Chop chop, winter is coming and all you need is a warm and cute Kitty scarf like this.

It's made with a magenta striped wool material where I put some nice details as the button-eyes, ears and paws. Her dimensions are: 140 cm height x 26 cm width.
There is only one Kitty Scarf left on my store and as I have said before...chop chop!

   

Su su l'inverno siamo in pieno inverno e tutto quello che serve è una calda e deliziosa sciarpa gatto "Kitty scarf" come questa. Per realizzarla ho utilizzato un tessuto di lana color magenta a righe a cui ho aggiunto dei simpatici dettagli come le orecchie, le zampe, la coda e gli occhi bottoni. Le sue dimensioni sono: 140 cm (lunghezza) x 24 cm (larghezza).
Mi è rimasta solo un'esemplare di Kitty Scarf nel negozio online quindi come avevo detto in apertura...su su! ^_^

Poppy Family: Weirdo cat phone case and handbag

How many things can I create from a beautiful half yard with a lot of poppies? The answer is: a lot! 

I fall in love with Poppy Parade Floral fabric by Sandi Henderson for Michael Miller, sent to me from Nelaro Fabrics. It features large red, beige and lime flowers on a cream coloured background. 

With this material I've create some Weirdo cat phone cases and a gorgeous zipper handbag: Poppy Parade. What can I say? 

Everything has been much appreciated on my Big Cartel store and I think these creations can make great presents to find under any tree this holiday.

 

Quante creazioni posso cucire da poco più di mezzo metro di una stoffa colma di papaveri? La risposta è: molti! 

Mi sono perdutamente infatuata del cotone Poppy Parafe Floral disegnato da Sandi Henderson per Micheal Miller e acquistato dal negozio Nelaro Fabrics. La stoffa floreale contiene una distesa di papaveri color rosso, beige e lime su fondo color crema. 

Con questo tessuto ho cucito un po' di cover per cellulari a forma di gatto, i Weirdo Cat, e una deliziosa borsa con chiusura a zip: Poppy Parade. Che cosa posso aggiungere? La famiglia Poppy sta andando alla grande nel mio negozio Big Cartel e credo che queste creazioni fatte a mano possano essere una bel regalo da far trovare sotto l'albero questo natale!

Made using the "Mushroom mania" cotton and the latest Leona outdoor polka dots cotton, Mushira and
Mushi are the perfect accessories for this season. The bottom of Mushira is made with a water and wind
repellent cotton and has a sturdy zipper closure. I've added a cute bow brooch on the handbag that add that finishing touch.
Besides, I've received some gorgeous materials from Dots'N'Stripes store as the repellent polka dots cotton. It will be funny make new creations with jersey for kids!

Infine ho aggiunto un tocco finale ovvero una chiccosa spilla a fiocco che riprende lo stile generale. Ovviamente tutto è handmade.
Inoltre ho ricevuto nuovi fantastici materiali su cui lavorare dal negozio Dots'n'Stripes, come ad esempio il cotone repellente. Sarà divertente creare nuove cosette per bambini con il jersey.

It's a very pleasure for me introducing you the awesome Amelie Family. 

This beautiful handmade bag, iphone case and kindle case came from the gorgeous fabric Timeless Treasures - Hoodie Daytime. What's not to love? 

Woow I really like this family because reminds me the beauty of Paris with its Tour Eiffel, Basilique du Sacré-Cœur and the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel.

E' con grande piacere che vi mostro la famiglia Amelie composta da una borsa, un porta iphone e un copri kindle; il tutto è stato fatto con la meravigliosa stoffa Timeless Treasures - Hoodie Daytime. 

Come si fa a non amarla? La stoffa richiama le maggiori attrazioni di Parigi con un design davvero bello e che aggiunge alle mie creazioni un pizzico di magia.

Love a Bear ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ

Oh yeah! I made a messenger bag shaped as a bear's muzzle. It's so cute! 

At the beginning I was a little bit dubious about the shape of the bag, for this reason I drew some sketches on my moleskine but in the end I come up with the right solution.

I applied the eye-button and the cutie ears, the nose is a snap button (to make safer the closure) and I've embroidered the mouth on it.

The polka dot beige cotton is divided from the brown one with the kawaii ribbon I love Bear from Seamstar.

Oh si! Ho finalmente creato una borsetta a tracolla a forma di musetto di orsetto. E' davvero carina (soprattutto le orecchiette)!

Inizialmente ero un po' indecisa sulla forma della borsa e sul mio moleskine ho buttato giù qualche idea, poi piano piano ho trovato una soluzione.

Ho applicato gli occhi-bottone e le orecchiette mentre il naso è in realtà un bottone a pressione, utilissimo per chiudere la borsa. Sulla patta ho poi ricamato a mano la bocca.La stoffa beige a pois bianchi è divisa da quella marrone da un nastro super kawaii Love a bear Ribbon di Seamstar.

Weirdo Cats Attack!

Literally a cats invasion has occupied my little sewing room, please help me adopting one of them. Weirdo Cat will follow you everywhere and will keep you iPhone safe from dust and scratches.

Besides the classic version of weirdo Cat made with brown and cream wool cloth, my evil mind has thought a colourful version made with Remix Flower Chocolate cotton by Robert Kaufman. Each case is lined with a soft volume fleece.

I love both, but you know I am the "maker" and I love them all equally.

Letteralmente un'invasione di gatti ha occupato la mia piccola stanza da cucito, ti va di aiutarmi adottandone uno? 

Questo Weirdo Cat ti seguirà ovunque e terrà il tuo iPhone al sicuro da polvere e graffi. 

Come si fa a resistere ai loro occhi-bottone pieni di amore e dolcezza?  

Oltre alla versione classica di Cat weirdo realizzato con panno di lana color marrone e crema, la mia mente diabolica ha pensato a una versione colorata utilizzando il cotone Remix Chocolate Flower di Robert Kaufman.

Ogni custodia per iPhone è foderata con un morbido strato di pannolencio. 

Tra i due modelli non saprei scegliere, ma d'altronde si sa che essendo la loro "creatrice" li adoro tutti allo stesso modo.

A royal ribbon with a linocut cats postcard

Domenica scorsa sono andate con amici al consueto mercatino del vintage e dell'handmade di Portsmouth: The Boutique Market. 

Tra tutte le meraviglie che c'erano sono stata attratta da un bellissimo nastro con la scritta Made in Britain. L'ho subito preso perché potrò cucire all'interno di ogni borsa questa etichetta così royal e chic. 

Proseguendo tra i vari stand sono finita a rovistare in un cestino pieno di cartoline, così non ho potuto fare a meno di portarmi a casa una cartolina che riproduce un gatto con la tecnica dell'incisione su linoleum (o linoleografia). Rispetto all'incisione xilografica risulta più grezza ed "espressiva", non a caso è stata la tecnica preferita della Die Brücke. 

Ho selezionato altri esempi di questa tecnica sempre con il tema del gatto.

Last Sunday I went to visit the Boutique market with my friends in Portsmouth. 

Among all the beautiful things on sale I bought two yards of a cute Made in Britain ribbon. I'll sew inside each bag a piece of Made in Britain ribbon! 

I bought also a nice card with a cat print with the technique of lino cut. This technique has been used mainly in the artistic movement of the Die Brücke.
