Walk to Shere

Hi there! I have spent this sunny Sunday in Shere over the Tillingbourne. What a wonderful village!
We walked through the beautiful countryside and passed close to two of the most interesting and ancient churches in Surrey. Let's say a walk with a fine village at the start and a good pub at the end, obviously we ate a Sunday Roast.

Finalmente una giornata di sole ha bucato il monotono cielo grigio inglese...insomma siamo ad Aprile!
Questa domenica ci siamo avventurati nel delizioso villaggio di Shere costeggiato dal fiume Tillingbourne. Abbiamo camminato tra la campagna inglese punteggiata di chiesette antiche e animali in libertà, il tutto si è concluso poi con un pranzo nello storico pub di Shere e un te con dolce in una tearoom.

Maggio si apre alla grande per la mia insaziabile voglia di creare borse e cosette in stoffa infatti guardate quante meravigliose stoffe posso ora usare per i miei scopi.

May starts with a bang for my insatiable desire to create little things with fabrics, in fact look through these fabrics I can now use for my purposes.

We love dogs

Se mi seguite da un po' ormai saprete il mio debole per gli animali domestici in particolare per i cani e gatti. 

La settimana scorsa ho realizzato per la bella Eli una borsa a tracolla a tema canino con chiusura a zip. Mi è stato richiesto appositamente di applicare sul fronte della borsa una zampa di cane e una frase: "Più persone conosco più apprezzo il mio cane". 

Detto fatto e sapendo che il verde è il suo colore preferito ho usato una stoffa quadrettata di quel colore e vi ho così applicato sia la zampa che la scritta (dipinta a mano). 

Ecco il risultato! Inutile dirvi che Eli ha apprezzato moltissimo la tracolla e per questo mi ha inviato una foto  in compagnia del suo amatissimo Braulio (un giovane King Cavalier). 

Il giorno che ho finito la sua borsa mi sono lasciata ispirare da un'altra stoffa a tema canino che era da un po' di tempo che girava nel mio laboratorio e così ho dato vita anche alla borsa tracolla con zip "Party Dogs", acquistabile nel negozio online http://fedulab.bigcartel.com 

If you are a Fedulab-goer you know very well I am keen on pets (mainly dogs and cats). 

Last week I made a custom doggy zipper messenger bag on Elisabetta's request. She wanted to apply on the front of the bag a dog's paw and a sentence: "More people I know, more I appreciate my dog​​." 

Here you are! I knew that green is her favorite color so I used a checkered cloth of this color and I applied the paw and the sentence (hand painted) on the front of the bag.

Eli has appreciated her new bag and she has sent me this picture with her beloved Braulio (a King Cavalier). The day I've finished her bag I was inspired enough to create another bag and few days later this messenger bag was ready: "Dog Party" available in the online store.

Love Southsea Sunday Market and a cup of tea from the vintage tea room

Il "Love Sunday Market" si tiene la prima domenica di ogni mese presso il porto antico di Portsmouth, così quest'oggi ho convinto Alba e Riccardo a fare un giro al mercatino dell'artigianato locale. 

Un bel sole scaldava la "Square tower" dove erano collocati dei simpatici stand che vendevano sia oggetti vintage che handmade. Il mercatino si estendeva anche all'interno della torre del porto dove numerosi altri artigiani vendevano i propri prodotti. 

Una sala del pian terreno della torre è stato adibita a tea room, e per la precisione si trattava di una tea room non proprio convenzionale: le tazze e le teiere erano tutte diverse, ogni tavolo era addobbato con giochi, riviste e oggetti vintage. 

Io vado matta per queste cose! 

Nella tea room si respirava un'atmosfera molto amichevole e soprattutto il te con i dolcetti erano deliziosi. Dopo esserci riscaldati col te abbiamo approfittato del bel tempo primaverile per fare un giretto all'aperto mentre le inglesi evidentemente percepiscono il clima mite come estivo. ahahha! 

 

Today Alba, Riccardo and I went to the ‘Love Southsea’ Sunday Market. This market takes place at the Square Tower in the Old Portsmouth on the First Sunday in the Month and supports the local businesses and crafters (check out the site http://www.lovesouthsea.co.uk/). 

We have found many stands that offered a lot of handmade and colorful stuff like pillows, cases, necklaces and decorations. There is a lovely, great and vintage tea room inside the tower and we have a pot of tea and slice of tasty cake.

I love this place 'cause each cup is different and each table is decorated differently with vintage games, magazines and cute objects. In the tea room the atmosphere was friendly and the the pastries were delicious. 

After drinking tea we make a walk on the beach(taking advantage of the beautiful sunny day).

Russian dolls bags

Non so se avete notato il fatto che le matrioske in tutte le loro forme stanno tornando di moda.

Ovviamente non potevo lasciarmi sfuggire questo spunto e così ho realizzato una mini serie di borse con matrioske come tema.

Ho dipinto su taffettas jacquard una matrioska che ospita o un cupcake o un gatto, creando così una tasca esterna per metterci dentro tutto quello che volete a portata di mano. La borsa sfuma sulle tinte del rosa: l'esterno in rosa antico, rosa confetto per il merletto e rosa carne per la passamaneria.

Le tre varianti che ho creato sono con tasca esterna beige, gialla o verde.

Mi piacciono tantissimo!

Russian dolls will be fashionable this summer and so I made these three bags using this subject. I painted on a jacquard taffettas a russian doll with a cupcake or a cat, thus I created an outside pocket on the bag to put in everything you want.

The bags are rose-coloured: exterior in soft pink, candy pink for the laces and pink for the trimmings.The bags got an outside pocket beige, yellow or green.

Printemps handmade dress + Marimekko fabric

I miei esperimenti continuano.

Spinta dalla voglia di possedere un nuovo capo d'abbigliamento che mi rispecchiasse, ho imbastito e terminato un abitino per me.

In questo periodo sono particolarmente recettiva e determinata a sviluppare e concretizzare le idee che mi passano per la testa ed ecco il mio ultimo risultato.

Ho assemblato una deliziosa stampa floreale a filato di canapa con vari pezzettini di cotone e infine con un ritaglio della stoffa griffata Unikko by Marimekko (che avevo comprato tempo fa).

Personalmente adoro il taglio di questo abito perchè è comodo e molto estivo.

Devo ammettere che mi sono molto divertita nel confezionarlo e credo proprio che replicherò questo modello con altre stoffe e magari per altre persone.

In più la soddisfazione di veder nascere un proprio abito dal bozzetto alla realizzazione non ha prezzo.

Do you like my new handmade spring dress?

In this period I'm particularly receptive and determined to develop and implement my ideas and here is my final result.

I assembled a lovely floral cotton with various scraps of cotton and a great piece of Unikko fabric by Marimekko. Personally I love the shape of this dress because it's comfortable and very summery. I must admit that I really enjoyed make it and I think that I will replicate this model with other fabrics and maybe for other people.

In addition, the satisfaction of seeing a dress from the sketch to its completion is wonderful.

Breathe, sun, spring

Sabato abbiamo visitato la baia di San Fruttuoso e la relativa abbazia, oggi di proprietà del FAI. La partenza era da Camogli e con il traghetto abbiamo raggiunto questa splendida spiaggia.
L'abbazia risale all'anno 1000 e gli umili pescatori del borgo dovettero a lungo coabitare con i pirati che crearono i loro covi lungo la scogliera. La località prende il nome dalle ceneri di San Fruttuoso che soffrì la passione a Terragona sotto gli imperatori Valeriano e Galieno e che si conservano nell'omonima chiesa. Tutto il complesso fece parte delle proprietà della famiglia Doria dal 1500 al 1983, quando i Doria Pamphili donarono gli edifici e i terreni al FAI.
Ovviamente tornati a Camogli abbiamo fatto pranzo con la tipica focaccia di Recco e merenda con una crepe affogata nella nutella. :P

This Saturday we went to visit San Fruttuoso's Abbey, near Genova. This delightful place can be reached only by boat or walking along 4 hours: obviously we've choosen the sea route. The Abbey was built on the XI century and the building has the characteristics of Gothic architecture.
